दिनांक 07 अगस्त 2025 को पुलिस आयुक्त कमिश्नरेट वाराणसी श्री मोहित अग्रवाल द्वारा साइबर सेल व साइबर थाना की समीक्षा बैठक आयोजित की गई, जिसमें साइबर सुरक्षा, जन-जागरूकता और कॉल सेंटर आधारित संगठित साइबर अपराध के विरुद्ध विशेष रणनीति पर चर्चा की गई।
बैठक में साइबर अपराधों से जनता की सुरक्षा सुनिश्चित करने हेतु विशेष अभियान चलाने की घोषणा की गई। उन्होंने कहा कि सॉफ्ट टारगेट (जैसे वरिष्ठ नागरिक, ग्रामीण, पेंशनर्स, प्रोफेशनल्स आदि) को विशेष रूप से जागरूक किया जाएगा ताकि वे ठगी के जाल में न फँसें।
🔸 बैठक के मुख्य बिंदु:
👉 कॉल सेंटर आधारित साइबर अपराधों की गहराई से जांच कर संगठित गैंग की पहचान कर उनके विरुद्ध कानूनी कार्रवाई सुनिश्चित की जाएगी।
👉 सिम कार्ड्स की खरीद के "पॉइंट ऑफ परचेज" की जानकारी एकत्र कर आवश्यक कदम उठाए जाएँगे।
👉 हर गुरुवार को थाना स्तर, स्कूलों, गाँवों एवं सार्वजनिक स्थलों पर साइबर अवेयरनेस कार्यक्रम होंगे।
👉 प्रोफेसर, डॉक्टर, अध्यापक, किसान, पेंशनर्स एवं 35 वर्ष से ऊपर के नागरिकों को ऑडियो-विजुअल माध्यम से जागरूक किया जाएगा।
👉 सभी थानों में स्थापित साइबर हेल्प डेस्क की साप्ताहिक गोष्ठियों में नागरिकों को रिपोर्टिंग प्रक्रिया की जानकारी दी जाएगी।
👉 बैंक से अधिक राशि निकालने वाले व्यक्तियों से फार्म भरवाया जाएगा, जिसमें उन्हें साइबर धोखाधड़ी से बचने की चेतावनी दी जाएगी।
👉 अब साइबर अपराध की एफआईआर दर्ज कराने के लिए राशि की कोई न्यूनतम सीमा नहीं होगी, थाना प्रभारी अपने विवेक से मुकदमा दर्ज कर सकेंगे।
👉 वाराणसी से चयनित दो साइबर कमांडोज़ को लखनऊ मुख्यालय में विशेष प्रशिक्षण दिया जाएगा, जो आगे साइबर अभियानों में सहयोग करेंगे।
इस अहम बैठक में पुलिस उपायुक्त (अपराध) सरवणन टी, अपर पुलिस उपायुक्त (साइबर अपराध) श्रीमती नीतू, सहायक पुलिस आयुक्त विदुष सक्सेना सहित कई पुलिस अधिकारी उपस्थित रहे।
पुलिस आयुक्त ने दो टूक कहा – “जनता की साइबर सुरक्षा हमारी प्राथमिकता है, अपराधियों को बख्शा नहीं जाएगा।”

Varanasi Police Commissioner Mohit Agarwal Warns of Strict Action Against Cybercrime; Legal Action to Be Intensified Alongside Awareness Campaigns
Varanasi.
On August 7, 2025, Varanasi Police Commissioner Mohit Agarwal chaired a review meeting of the Cyber Cell and Cyber Police Station to discuss a special strategy against cybercrime, with a focus on cyber security, public awareness, and organized call center-based cyber fraud.
During the meeting, a special campaign was announced to ensure public safety from cybercrime. Agarwal stated that vulnerable groups such as senior citizens, rural residents, pensioners, and professionals will be a special focus of awareness efforts to prevent them from falling victim to fraud.
Key points of the meeting:
* A thorough investigation of call center-based cybercrimes will be conducted to identify organized gangs and ensure legal action is taken against them.
* Information on "points of purchase" for SIM cards will be collected to take necessary steps.
* Cyber awareness programs will be held every Thursday at police stations, schools, villages, and public places.
* Professors, doctors, teachers, farmers, pensioners, and citizens over 35 years of age will be educated through audio-visual mediums.
* Citizens will be informed about the reporting process during weekly meetings at the cyber help desks established in all police stations.
* Individuals withdrawing large sums of money from banks will be asked to fill out a form warning them about cyber fraud.
* There will no longer be a minimum monetary limit for filing a cybercrime FIR. Station house officers will be able to register cases at their discretion.
* Two cyber commandos selected from Varanasi will receive special training at the Lucknow headquarters and will assist in future cyber operations.
The meeting was attended by several police officers, including Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Saravanan T, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Cybercrime) Neetu, and Assistant Commissioner of Police Vidush Saxena.
The Police Commissioner stated in no uncertain terms: “The public's cyber security is our priority. Criminals will not be spared.”
